Q.How is the limit of energy?
A. Reiki exists in universal energy, which the Reiki healer takes in and releases from their hands through their energy flow. The healer acts as a medium, transferring energy from the universe to the receiver. The healer does not use their own strength unless holding their hands in the same place for a certain time and therefore does not deplete their own energy. If the healer gives Reiki for a long time in a day, they may feel tired, much like they would from any prolonged activity. However, the universal energy will never run out.
Q. Do you feel the organs in me?
A. Yes, I feel various sensations from the recipient's body, especially in areas where the energy is blocked or not circulating well. I often notice the recipient's heartbeat getting stronger at the carotid artery, and I can feel how well the heart is pumping. It is showing the blood circulation is getting better. I can also sense the condition of the womb, such as tension or expansion due to menstruation, and detect movement in the bowel. However, the extent of what I feel depends on the recipient and the specific time and occasion. While I am not in a position to diagnose diseases, I can sense whether the organs are functioning properly or not.
Q. Is there any side effect or adverse event from Reiki?
A. No, Reiki does not have contraindications. Though sometimes people feel their condition gets worse after a session, they usually feel much better a few hours later. This is part of the recovery process and how Reiki works, and it typically only lasts a few hours. If the energy is stagnated and circulation is clogged, this might happen, but the majority of my clients feel happy after the session. If this occurs, I recommend continuing the sessions once a week for several weeks until the energy flow improves. Many authentic Reiki healers report the same experience. Since Reiki was founded in 1922 by Mikao Usui, no side effects or adverse events have been reported in Japanese Reiki for 100 years. Reiki corrects the flow of energy. You may feel warmth from my hands, and your whole body's blood circulation can be improved. I simply place my hands on your body over light clothing, using a couple of tissues to avoid direct touch in sensitive areas such as the face.
Q.What do I feel during a session?
A. You may feel like you are in a meditative state throughout the Reiki session. The area where the hands are applied typically becomes warmer. Some people report a light tingling sensation, while others may not feel anything at all. This varies depending on the recipient. After the session, you might feel spaced out, numb in the head, or sleepy for a few minutes, but this usually normalizes quickly. Generally, you will feel refreshed afterward. Occasionally, there may be a few people who feel their condition worsens immediately or a few hours later after the session or the day after, but this typically subsides shortly and doesn't last for days. We think it is the reaction of your body against Reiki energy and the process of getting better. This body's reaction to the energy is nothing to worry about. It is proof that your body absorbed the Reiki. I recommend getting up slowly and not leaving the bed too quickly after the session. Additionally, do not drive or operate machinery immediately after the session; please wait at least 15 minutes.
Q. Does Reiki have a scientific background?
A. Yes. There has been some research conducted in the US, where it was found that Reiki involves "electrical and magnetic energy similar to the frequency of human healing energy," as studied by researchers Krinsley D. Bengston and James L. Oschman, Ph.D. These scientists conducted various experiments to explore Reiki's effects. Recently, the NHS in the UK has started incorporating Reiki for patient care, with some hospitals implementing its use. The NHS has recognized that Reiki can help comfort and relax patients. Q. Is there any diet restriction?
A. No, you can eat anything you like. You don’t need to be vegetarian or vegan. Maintaining a diet that supports your health or specific condition is perfectly fine. Some Western Reiki practices advise against drinking alcohol or taking drugs after a Reiki session, but authentic Japanese Reiki does not impose this restriction. You are allowed to drink, but we caution that you may become intoxicated more easily than usual because Reiki can significantly improve blood circulation.
